A native of Winston-Salem, Bobby Alspaugh played in his first
"combo" in 1966 during the psychedelic days of the Beatles
Revolver album with Yellow Submarine. Later, as a member of the ASU stage
band, he made the decision to tour as guitarist for The Platters (Sonny
Turner). Eventually settling in the Georgia area, he found roots in Macon,
GA where he studied the Southern Rock culture for 7 years. A yearning
desire to return to his Piedmont Triad heritage, Bobby moved back to
Winston-Salem and started the Smyle Band which he left after 8 years and
began playing guitar with Special Occasion. An original member and going
strong with effective rhythms and tasteful solos making Special Occasion
rock solid. |
